Farrah Fawcett started her career as a model in Corpus Christi in Texas. Over the course of her long and notable career, she was nominated four times for an Emmy Award, six for a Golden Globe Award. Farrah Leni Fawcett began her acting career in commercials for television. She has also appeared as a guest star in television shows like 'I Dream of Jeannie' and the 'Flying Nun. Her debut film role was in the role of an actress in an French film titled 'Love Is A Funny Thing.' The iconic poster featuring her in a red bikini became the most popular picture of a pin-up ever. Her appearances in the most popular TV and film shows made her a household name as an industry sex-symbol. In the popular crime drama series Charlie's Angels, she played an investigator. This series followed the exploits of three women who worked for the Los Angeles private detective firm. Apart from playing glamorous characters as well, she was also known for her dramatic performances including the one of a battered wife from the TV movie 'The Burning Bed.' She was ranked as number 26 on TV Guide's "50 greatest TV celebrities of all time'. In 1989, at age 59, she was found to be having anal cancer. The cancer died three years later.
